The Amazing Honey Bee is an educational program for students of all ages. A teaching tool used in the classroom is the Observation Hive. To the right is a photo of 2,000 working bees and queen bee in the Observation Hive. It is filled with beeswax, worker bees, queen bee, drone bees, honey and eggs.
Topics of discussion is the life cycle of the honey bee in the colony. The many different roles the worker bee performs daily to keep the hive a working healthy colony.
Also discussed is the role of the honey bee on the farm. Over 1/3 of our produce is pollinated by the honey bee. Farmers pay the beekeeper to keep their hives on their farms to pollinate their crops. The beehives are transported from all over the country by beekeepers to the farms for pollination of produce crops.
Honey tasting is also an element of the program. For the younger ages coloring sheets of beekeeping is used to learn more about beekeeping.
